MovementWorks has won a grant from The Arts Council England, COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Arts Council made £160 million of emergency funding available for individuals and organisations who needed support during these unprecedented times; nearly 90% of this funding was provided by the National Lottery.
Recognising that COVID-19 would have a serious impact on all of us, and would affect the ability for children and adults to stay healthy both physically and mentally, MovementWorks put in place regular online sessions based on Autism Movement Therapy®, Developmental Dance Movement® and various Yoga sessions. With the closure of schools and childcare provisions along with the banning of public events and groups, there was the added concern of some individuals becoming socially isolated.
The Arts Council have awarded funding to MovementWorks in order to support and expand these sessions over the coming months and reach out to all SEN and vulnerable children and adults across the country along with their neurotypical peers and provide an inclusive range of classes for all.

Additionally, the research has been presented at The British College of Occupational Therapists, The British Association of Art Therapies, Plymouth University Autism Therapies Conference, The National Autistic Society International Congress, The Expressive Arts Summit, New York University, Traditional Therapies and Expressive Modalities in association with Adelphi University in Asia.
