Alison started her Independent Early Years Consultancy, Orange Caterpillar in 2014 after a long career in Early Years
Qualifying as an NNEB in the early 80's she has held many EY roles. Including Private Nanny, Teaching Assistant, Childminder, Nursery Practitioner, Pre-School SEN Advisor, EYFS Lead and Early Years Development Officer for a Local Authority. Alison has a BA Hons and gained Early Years Professional Status in 2010. Alison mentors Early Years Initial Teacher Training students at the University of Brighton and the University of Sussex.
Alison is committed to enthusing and inspiring the Early Years workforce to provide a high quality learning environment for babies and children. Alison enjoys writing and delivering training, supporting settings to overcome challenges (no matter how big or small) and is passionate about her own and others Continued Professional and Personal Development. Alison is committed to safeguarding babies and children and is NSPCC trained, she is currently going through the NSPCC accreditation process.
Alison has been awarded 'Gold Standard Reliability' in using the Sustained Shared Thinking and Emotional Wellbeing (SSTEW) scales and is an accredited Schema Play trainer. Alison uses her experience, knowledge and skills to develop practice and deepen understanding in all areas of the EYFS, she is your ideal 'critical friend'!
Alison has been working with Inspiring Nurseries to provide support and advise throughout the Coronavirus pandemic and is looking forward to continuing to expand with virtual packages!
