Enabling Environments for EAD
Part 1
It can be tempting to think that art and design is less important than other curriculum areas. This two-part webinar will seek to dispel this myth and demonstrate how the arts, as well as being valuable in their own right, can also be used to nurture all aspects of learning and development. Anni will provide an overview of the key elements of an enabling environment for art and design, and how these might be used to aid recovery and emotional well-being. She will also share some of the planned changes to EAD in the reformed EYFS (2019), with practical ideas for art and design experiences both in the setting and at home.
Following the session, an art and design audit will provide delegates with the chance to assess current practice before returning for part 2
Part 2
Participants will have the opportunity to reflect more deeply on developing their own environments for art and design. In addition, there will be a focus on imaginative play and how this might be used to nourish children’s communication, language and literacy. Findings from several creative projects will offer a framework to look at how small, focussed initiatives can help to develop practice, along with tips and ideas to design your own. Those attending Part 2 will also be invited to submit questions beforehand, and where possible these will be addressed during the session
The webinar will take place on the following dates and times:
Session 1: 3rd November, 7pm-8.30pm
Session 2: 18th November, 7pm-8.30pm
Trainer: Anni McTavish
