Developing your Pedagogy in the EYFS – Aims, Values and Principles
We know that key to your high quality learning environment is a pedagogy that is based in theory, research and experience. We look at how this develops through reflective practice. This training enables you to critically reflect on your pedagogy to enable you to share this confidently with your team, parents and children. We look at developing an ethos through aims, values and principles of a high quality teaching and learning environment.
Overview
Pedagogy refers to the holistic nature of your professional practice. You make decisions about how to present your environment and curriculum that is based in the principles and commitments of the EYFS and this is based in your clear aims, values and principles. Children’s outcomes are dependent on an effective pedagogy that is securely based in teaching and learning, providing a safe nurturing environment and high quality interactions. With so many ‘good practice’ pedagogical approaches how can you be confident and sure you are providing a highly effective environment for children to learn in?
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the session you will:
- identify that your pedagogy is key to providing a high quality environment
- know how to frame your approach and link it to theory, research and experience
- be able to develop your own aims, values and principles to take your practice forward
