This month’s Autumn Statement saw the government take the appalling decision to provide no additional funding for the early years sector, despite rocketing inflation rates and a record increase in the national living and minimum wages.

The move has rightly sparked fury within the early years and a growing call for urgent sector action – however, there is, as yet, limited agreement on what this might mean in practice.

We are keen to ensure that whatever next steps the Alliance takes is shaped and led by the views of our members. That’s why we’re inviting all Alliance members to join our upcoming free virtual Alliance Connect, to discuss and debate the way forward for our vital sector.

During the session, which will be hosted by early years development manager Richard Knight, attendees will get the opportunity to speak directly to Alliance CEO Neil Leitch, as well as communications and external affairs director Shannon Pite, whose team leads on the organisation’s campaigning activity.

We will also provide an update on some of the work that has been taking place behind the scenes over recent months, including cross-sector lobbying on funding and recognition for the early years and other wider work on recruitment and retention, and childminder agencies.

Booking and Fees
Please note that this event is available exclusively to Alliance members. The Alliance has also launched a short polled, open to all in the sector to share their views on the next steps for the early years, available here.
