The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) have released a new report that highlights the benefits to children’s learning and development from providing structured professional development for support staff working in early years.

‘Maths Champions’ an independent program delivered by the NDNA (National Day Nurseries Association) that was undertaken by a team from University of York and Durham; discovered that children who took part in the program made on average around three months additional progress in both language and maths development compared to a similar group of children who did not participate in the program.

This is a one-year program that supports early years staff and practitioners to improve their maths provisions by nominating a senior member of the staff team to to undertake training and support colleagues in their settings to develop their maths teaching practice.
